I am considering pet insurance for my cat?

I have an 8 year old cat who is generally healthy. I reviewed her medical records which I have kept since she was a kitten. With the exception of vaccinations and when she was spayed, she only went to the vet twice in all that time. These were about a year apart. What I am wondering is if pet insurance is worth it and if so can anyone recommend a company/policy. I know that insurance has a deductible and I don’t anticipate any treatment to be much more than that. My vet offers an extended repayment plan for treatments over £500.
I forgot to mention that she is a completely indoor cat.

i wish i had gotten health insurance for my guy. he was already neutered and declawed so i did not count on any other stuff other than regular shots however i have spent over 3,000 dollars for other things like the time he chewed an aloe plant, the intestinal problem he began having when he was 9 yrs old, the constipation problem he has had requiring 3 emergency vists and surgery. lickily he is not diabetic and is an indoor cat but did get bit by a centipede that somehow found its way into the house and got very ill. so, there are a multitude of things that can happen to curious and aging kitties so i would definately say that it is worth it. however, find out which one your vet accepts. vets are like regular doctors and only accept certain insurances. then call your local emergency vet and find out what insurances they take and then after writing that all down, compare notes and start looking for prices. some pet insurances give cheaper rates on the rabies and yearly combination vaccines. good luck. i do believe it is worth the small yearly fee they charge. as a nurse i can tell you i am kicking myself in the butt for not thinking of illnesses. i believed he was an indoor kitty, ate the best food, wasnt around other animals and got yearly shots so didnt anticipate, really, any emergencies but they do occur, especially as pets age.
